President Biden’s speech on antisemitism

May 7, 2024

Today, President Biden delivered an important address denouncing antisemitism at the U.S. Holocaust Museum’s annual Days of Remembrance event, and the Biden-Harris Administration announced several new actions to counter the rise of Antisemitism in the United States. These actions build on the work of the President’s National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, the most comprehensive plan to combat antisemitism in U.S. history.

Read the President’s important speech and tell your member of Congress to support the Countering Antisemitism Act, which will fund additional steps to keep Jewish Americans safe.

TELL CONGRESS TO SUPPORT THE COUNTERING ANTISEMITISM ACT

The Biden-Harris Administration has already taken over 100 actions from the President’s National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, including securing an additional $400 million for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program to keep synagogues and Jewish community spaces safe.

The White House is taking additional steps to protect Jewish Americans, particularly on college campuses, building on its work to fight antisemitism during the past year. Today, the Biden-Harris announced:

  • Updated guidelines have been sent to every school district and college in the country providing examples of antisemitic discrimination and forms of hate. These guidelines will “ensure that colleges and universities do a better job of protecting both Jewish students and all of their students.”
  • The development and sharing of best practices for community-based targeted violence and terrorism prevention to reduce assaults and attacks on Jewish Americans.
  • Plans to convene technology firms to identify best practices to address antisemitic content online and how best to counter online extremism.

These steps are in addition to the many actions the Biden-Harris has already taken, including deepened security resources for synagogues, community centers, and Jewish day schools, federal resources for hate crimes prevention, and addressing discrimination and religious accommodations within the U.S. government.
